Charlize Theron next venture is based on 2006-novel.

CHARLIZE THERON is all set to star in an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's best-selling 2006 novel 'The Road'.

The Monster star is likely to be mostly seen in flashback, according to Variety.
Viggo Mortensen will co-star in the movie in which his character who, following a nuclear explosion, undertakes a hellish road trip in order to save his son from both the fallout and cannibals, reports Contactmusic.

Charlize Theron (born August 7, 1975) is a South African actress with American citizenship and former fashion model. She is well-known for her portrayal of Aileen Wuornos in the film Monster, for which she won an Academy Award.

Charlize Theron grew up on a farm outside Benoni, South Africa, as the only child. She got an education as a ballet dancer and has danced both the "Swan Lake" and the "Nutcracker Suite". There wasn't much for a young actress or dancer to do in South Africa, so she soon traveled to Europe and United States of America, where she got job at the Joffrey Ballet in New York. She was also able to work as a photo model. However, an injured knee put a halt to her dancing career.

Theron grew up as the only child on her parents' farm near Johannesburg (Benoni). At the age of 13, Charlize was sent to boarding school and began her studies at the National School Of The Arts in Johannesburg. At fifteen, Theron witnessed the death of her father, an abusive alcoholic; her mother shot him in self-defense when he attacked her. The police laid no charges against her.[2]

At the age of 16, Theron traveled to Milan, Italy, on a one-year modeling contract, after winning a local competition. She went to New York with Pauline's Model Management. She decided to remain in NY after her contract ended, attending the Joffrey Ballet School, where she trained as a ballet dancer.

At the age of 18, her mother made her go to Los Angeles to try a career in the movie industry. She came to Los Angeles without knowing anyone in the city but after two weeks when she was standing in line on Hollywood Boulevard an agent gave her his card. After eight months in Los Angeles she got her first part. Since then, she has taken acting lessons and her career has skyrocketed, most lately in The Devil's Advocate (1997).

Theron has agreed to take on a minor role as the wife of Mortensen's character, reportedly because she is a fan of the novel and due to a desire to work with producer Nick Weschler, with whom she teamed up on 2000's ‘The Yards’. The film is being directed by John Hillcoat, helmer of ‘The Proposition’.
